Connect

Training Programme

A free 8-week training programme for Black theatre-makers who were at risk of leaving the industry due to the impact of the pandemic.

Connect offered training in marketing, fundraising and alternative paths such as film and audio drama to 10 early-career creatives. It also offered them the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and build their network.

The 2021 cohort was Xanthus, Tomi Adewusi, Tatenda Naomi Matsvai, Syeshia Sweeney, Shanay Neusum-James, Lorraine Adeyefa, Erica Tavares-Kouassi, Donna Briscoe-Greene, Deja Bowens and Adiza Shardow.

The 2021 programme’s mentors were Abigail Sol and Tobi Kyeremateng FRSA. Alongside the programme, participants received 1-1 wellbeing coaching from Natasha Brown.

From the participants:

“i needed this so, so much and i can't wait for other artists to join, develop and grow the way we all have. i am so excited to push myself forward with the knowledge and support you have shared with us.”

Shanay Neusum-James

“Being in a Black creative space has been a beautiful experience for me; learning from these incredible artists in the industry telling their own inspiring stories.”
